Helping Veterans
Our goal at Hauswirth MDE is providing quality examinations for veterans seeking medical examinations for disability benefits. As a disabled veteran who has also been through the process, it is not lost on me how difficult the journey can be.
History of my military involvement
In my teenage years, I became part of the US Naval Sea Cadets because my dad was an active duty sailor during Vietnam. After hearing his stories of being in the military and also being inspired by military movies, I made the decision to enlist in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Medical Technician. The early part of my enlistment consisted of working in clinics, Emergency Department and Ambulance Services. In this period also, I deployed to Cairo West Air Base, Egypt; for OPERATION BRIGHT STAR. Many doctors and physician assistants during this period took me under their wings and helped me expand my medical knowledge and skills.
The latter part of my military career was spent as an Independent Duty Medical Technician (IDMT), where I was assigned to smaller squadrons outside of the Military Treatment Facilities. First with the Ground Combat Training Squadron (Silver Flag Alpha), later as an IDMT Instructor and lastly with the 12th Reconnaissance Squadron. In this last position, I was detailed out twice to deploy with the Medical Element for the 99th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron assigned to the U-2 Dragonlady squadron, in support of operations in Southwest Asia during the Global War on Terror.
Upon my separation(after 10 years of active service); I returned to Fresno, California where I attended Physician Assistant School in Visalia. This was a goal of mine for many years, to become a medical provider and to help others. I spent the next several years working in Family Medicine/Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, and Urgent Care. In 2023, after going for my own Medical Disability Examination(MDE), I decided to change gears and become a MDE provider myself, and have enjoyed focusing my skills on helping my brothers and sisters in completing their own exams for disability benefits.
I have had the pleasure of helping Korean War Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, Veterans of the wars in Southwest Asia and those who have recently separated.
I thank those that have worn the uniform for their service.
Respectfully,
Steven L. Hauswirth, PA-C, SSgt
